Edward Maruggi

Edward Albert Maruggi, Ph.D. is a second-generation Italian American and a Professor  Emeritus from Rochester Institute of Technology, having chaired programs for hearing impaired students for  twenty-one  years.  In 1980/81 he was a Rotary International Fellow who studied and conducted research in Italy. He is a diverse writer who writes a bi- monthly column for an   Italian American newspaper, has authored seven college level textbooks and seven  about Italians and Italian Americans. His memberships include the Italian American Studies Association, the  Order of Sons and  Daughters of  Italy in America and  Friends of Italian Genealogy.  

In 2017, he was awarded the Literary Award by the New York Grand Lodge of OSDIA. He is married to the former Carolyn Baumgartner, a quiltmaker and quilt genealogist. Together with their two cats, they live at a lake-front community in Hilton, New York.
