Marge Pellegrino grew up in Tuckahoe, New York where she learned to make sauce cooking alongside her Nana on Sundays after church. She is an award-winning author and teaching artist who has facilitated workshops in school, library, and community settings. Her early chapter book Too Nice helps kids develop personal boundaries. Her picture book My Grandma’s the Mayor celebrates community service. Her newest book Neon Words: 10 Brilliant Ways to Light Up Your Writing offers writing and craft activities families can enjoy together. The Sculpture Speaks: A Refugee’s Story of Survival benefits the Owl & Panther Program for survivors of torture and their families. Then First Lady Barbara Bush bestowed Marge’s Word Journeys afterschool program a Coming Up Taller Award at the White House in 2008. Marge and her family live in Tucson, AZ.
