Michael Cutillo

Born in Syracuse, New York, Mike Cutillo grew up in Baldwinsville, graduated from C.W. Baker High School in 1978 and Magna Cum laude from St. John Fisher College (Rochester) in 1982 with a BA in Communications/Journalism and minors in Business Management

and Italian.

He has been a journalist, a reporter and an editor in Upstate New York since 1982, primarily in the Finger Lakes region where he has worked for the daily Finger Lakes Times (Geneva) for over 30 years as a sportswriter, sports editor, and news editor and has been the

executive editor since 2011. He also has been a regional reporter for the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle and a sports editor for the Canandaigua Daily Messenger.

George Washing Machine is his first book, but he has won numerous writing awards from the New York State Associated Press, the New York and Pennsylvania Publishers Associations and GateHouse Media.

He also has had articles published in Mountain Home and College Sports magazines and has been a regular columnist for over 20 years for the Golden Lion, the official publication of the Grand Lodge of New York Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America.

He has traveled to Italy over 20 times and between 2001 and 2019 he has organized nine group trips through his local Geneva Sons of Italy lodge, escorting over 400 people to various parts of Italy, including Tuscany, Venice, the Lakes Region, the Amalfi and Adriatic coasts, Rome,

Calabria and Sicily.

Cutillo lives in Geneva with his wife, Jan. He has a grown daughter, Kristine, who lives in North Carolina.

 Cutillo is the winner of the 2023 OSIA Literary Award.
