Sylvana Pezzati Swinburne

Sylvana  Swinburne, née Pezzati,  was born and raised in Palermo, Sicily in 1950.  At the age of twenty, she moved to London, England where she resided for 18 years.  She attended Southgate Technical College and obtained the Cambridge certification in English.  She then held various positions at the management level for various import and export companies.  In 1985 she moved to the United States and attended Queens College where she also worked as an Adjunct Professor for the Italian Department while pursuing her degrees in education both in Italian and French. Applying her studies in education, she taught in the New York City public school system for 17 years and was one of the first five teachers to teach Advanced Placement in Italian in New York.

Sylvana Swinburne has written various stories and poetry which have been published in Reflections in Poetry and Prose and Musings by the United Federation of Teachers.
